One of the reasons I chose my current home was its proximity to trails, and that still matters to me. There’s something about being able to step outside on a beautiful morning and, within minutes, be surrounded by nature. It clears the mind, shifts perspective, and reminds you to slow down, even if just for a moment. It energizes me and helps me get ready for the day ahead. The stresses of the day somehow feel less stressful.
But we go through different stages in life, and I know that at some point, being able to walk to amenities like the grocery store, the bakery, or a local coffee shop will become more important. That’s just how life goes. Priorities shift, needs evolve, and what mattered most before may gradually make room for what matters now.
In the meantime, I will enjoy the trail and everyone I meet along the way. That part of my day, simple as it is, adds real value to where I live. And when the time comes to make a change, I know I will miss it.
Why Your Home’s Location Matters More Than You Think
Here’s a question I encourage every homeowner to consider:
What do you love most about your current location that you will miss when it’s time to move? And what do you think will matter most in your next one?
It is an important question, and not just for those actively looking to sell. Many homeowners begin thinking about a move months, even years, before they actually take the leap. Some are considering downsizing, others are looking for more walkability, and some simply want a fresh start. But whatever the reason, the process often begins with one quiet thought: Is this still the right fit or is it time to move on?
That is why it helps to take stock now. It is easy to get caught up in the price, market conditions, or how many square feet you are gaining or losing. But in the end, it is the everyday things – the conveniences you rely on, the community, and the feeling you get when you walk through your door that truly matter.
If you are planning your next move, whether seriously or just in passing, I would be happy to meet for a coffee and have a conversation. No pressure, no sales pitch, just an honest discussion about your goals, your plans, and what possibilities may be out there.
What is it about your neighbourhood, your street, or your home that makes it feel like home?
Whatever stage you are in, it is always worth reflecting on what matters most.
